Granny & Pouchu — Book Conversation
It is another bright day in Granny’s Pouch land. Granny picks up a picture book and settles down beside Pouchu.
Granny: The Jungle Storytelling Festival is about to begin. Scoot over, Pouchu.
Pouchu scoots closer, already eager.
Pouchu: A storytelling festival! I want to hear all the stories.
Granny: Then let’s see who is going to tell them.
They open the book.
Granny: Everyone is busy getting ready for the festival.
Pouchu: Look! Everyone wants to participate.
Granny: It seems so.
Pouchu: Even Ostrich!
They turn the page.
Pouchu: Oh…
Granny: Hmm?
Pouchu: They are laughing at him.
Granny: Yes.
Pouchu: But he wants to tell a story.
Granny: He does.
Pouchu: That’s not very kind.
Granny: No, it isn’t.
Pouchu looks at Ostrich for a moment.
Pouchu: I hope he gets his chance.
Granny: Let’s keep reading.
They read on.
Pouchu: The festival has started!
Granny: It has.
Pouchu: Everyone is telling their stories.
Pouchu looks around the page.
Pouchu: But not Ostrich.
Granny: No.
Pouchu: Maybe they’ll let him tell one later.
Granny: Perhaps.
They turn the page.
Pouchu: Granny…
Granny: Hmm?
Pouchu: The final bell has rung.
Granny: It has.
Pouchu: So there are no more stories.
Pouchu’s face falls.
Pouchu: Ostrich didn’t get to tell his.
Granny: No, he didn’t.
They turn the page.
Pouchu: I am sad for Ostrich.
Granny: He is very disappointed.
Pouchu: He really wanted to be part of the festival.
They turn the page.
Pouchu: Someone has noticed him!
He leans closer to the page.
Ding-dong!
Pouchu looks up.
Granny: Oh! The afternoon milk has arrived.
Pouchu: But Granny!
Granny laughs and gets up.
Granny: Come along. We can find out what happens when I get back.
Pouchu looks reluctantly at the book, then follows her.

The stories begin. One by one, the animals take their turns.
And then the final bell rings.
