Granny & Pouchu — Book Conversation
It is another bright day in Granny’s Pouch land.
Pouchu is rummaging through Granny’s Pouch when he catches sight of a peacock in a picture book.
Pouchu: Granny!
Granny: Hmm?
Pouchu: Look what I’ve found!
Granny: A book?
Pouchu: Yes! And there’s a peacock in it.
Granny: Ah! A peacock.
Pouchu: On a sari!
Granny: I see him. He’s beautiful.
Pouchu: You know, Granny, I remember seeing a peacock at the zoo.
Granny: Did you?
Pouchu: He looked very proud. He hardly opened his wings.
Granny: Perhaps he didn’t have much reason to.
Pouchu: But this one is different.
Granny: How so?
Pouchu: He doesn’t seem proud at all. He looks as though he’s having fun!
Granny: Hmm. Perhaps we should see where he’s going.
They turn the page.
Pouchu: Granny!
Granny: Yes?
Pouchu: He moved!
Granny: So he did.
Pouchu: And Trisha saw him!
Granny: She did.
Pouchu: Where is he going?
Granny: Where do you think?
Pouchu: I don’t know. I’m going to find out.
They read on.
Pouchu: Granny, look! He is becoming part of everything he jumps into.
Granny: He certainly seems to fit in wherever he goes.
Pouchu: How does he do that?
Granny: What do you think?
Pouchu: He changes?
Granny: Perhaps.
Pouchu: He adapts!
Granny: There you are.
A little later…
Pouchu: Wait!
Granny: What is it?
Pouchu: He’s dancing!
Granny: Is he?
Pouchu: Look at his wings!
Granny: What do you think he’s doing?
Pouchu: He’s performing!
Granny: And who has joined him?
Pouchu: Trisha!
They turn the page.
Pouchu: Granny…
Granny: Hmm?
Pouchu: Where did the peacock go?
Granny: I don’t see him.
Pouchu: And where is Trisha?
Granny: I think you’ll have to keep reading.
Peek into the Book
Trisha is walking to the market with her mother, holding on to her pallu.
But something catches her eye.
There is a peacock on her mother’s sari.
And then something surprising happens.
The peacock moves.
Trisha follows.
But where will a peacock from a sari take her?
You’ll have to follow him to find out.
